How does /weather work?
The /weather command sets the weather type for the specified duration. Syntax: /weather <clear|rain|thunder> [ticks]. 20 ticks = 1 second. By default the duration is random (from 6000 to 18000 ticks).
Weather types
clear — clear weather, sunshine. rain — rain (snow in snowy biomes). thunder — a thunderstorm with lightning. During a thunderstorm skeleton riders can appear, and creepers struck by lightning become charged.
Disabling weather
To permanently disable weather changes: /gamerule doWeatherCycle false. After that, set the desired weather with /weather clear. The weather will no longer change automatically.
Effect on the game
Rain darkens the world and lets you fish faster. In a thunderstorm, lightning can set blocks on fire, turn a pig into a zombified piglin, and a villager into a witch. A lightning rod protects buildings from lightning.
