How does /time work?
The /time set command sets a specific time of day, while /time add adds ticks to the current time. One in-game day = 24000 ticks = 20 minutes of real time. The day starts at 0 ticks.
Time values
day = 1000 ticks (morning), noon = 6000 (midday), night = 13000 (nightfall), midnight = 18000 (midnight). You can specify any number of ticks from 0 to 2147483647.
Stopping time
To stop the day/night cycle, use /gamerule doDaylightCycle false. After that, time will stand still until you change it with /time set or turn the cycle back on.
Practical use
Set eternal day for building (/time set day + /gamerule doDaylightCycle false). Or make it night to farm mobs. On MineRENT servers these commands are available to the server owner.
