How does /effect work?
The /effect give command applies a potion effect to a player or entity. Syntax: /effect give <target> <effect> [seconds] [level]. Level 0 = I, 1 = II, and so on. The maximum duration is 1000000 seconds.
Useful effects
Speed (speed) — fast movement. Night Vision (night_vision) — visibility in the dark. Regeneration (regeneration) — health recovery. Resistance (resistance) — reduced damage. Saturation (saturation) — auto-fills hunger.
Removing effects
To remove all effects, use /effect clear <player>. To remove a specific effect: /effect clear <player> <effect>. Effects are also removed on death or by drinking milk.
Effect levels
Most effects support levels up to 255. High Speed levels (speed 10+) can make the game unplayable. Instant Health and Instant Damage have no duration — they act once when applied.
